Ascent: First across alpine meadows and forest passages, later up to the Entschenalpe on a tarmac alpine path. At the turn-off to Gaisalpe/Stützel, follow the farm track straight ahead for a short distance, then there are signs again pointing the way up to Falkenalpe. From there to the Schnippenkopf. Beautiful panoramic views of the Illertal, the Hörnerkette, Kleinwalsertal, the Allgäu High Alps, Rotspitze, Retterschwangertal, Oberjoch, Hirschberg and Grünten. The onward route to the Heidelbeerkopf leads over a somewhat exposed, splintery section just below the summit down to the ridge. The mountain path leads over the Heidelbeerkopf to the Sonnenkopf. Continue over the Schnippe to the signposted turn-off via the Diana hunting lodge back down to the starting point.
