Challenging circular hike in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria.
The Zellertal - a jewel of nature: The hike begins in Steinbühl and first leads down into the valley of the Kaitersbach stream. Along the small side road, you soon reach the hamlets of Weidenhof and Leckern. The charming landscape repeatedly offers marvellous views towards the Kaitersberg massif. After crossing the Kaitersbach stream, the path climbs towards Bärndorf, where you cross the main road. The route now climbs towards Kaitersberg on forest paths and forest roads. After a long section of forest road, past the Nicklstein (858 m) and Lichtenstein (820 m), the route descends towards Buchberg (refreshments: Steinbühler Hof) and Bonried. After the village of Kieslau, you soon return to the starting point of Steinbühl (refreshments: Steinbühler Hof). A detour to the Kötztinger Hütte is also an option. You will find the entrance at the Nicklstein.
