This popular hiking tour in the Mangfallgebirge mountains first leads along well-maintained, wide paths to the summit of the Riederstein, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Tegernsee and the surrounding mountains as far as the Karwendel. From the Riederstein to the Baumgartenschneid, the route then follows a not too difficult ridge hike and finally returns along the same route.
The route is well marked, well frequented but not too crowded. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are an advantage. The Berggasthof Riederstein is a good place to stop for refreshments.
