Impressive circular route on Lake Tegernsee, Bavaria, Germany
This route starts at the Alpbachtal car park near the village of Tegernsee. Along the Alpbach stream, the trail climbs steadily uphill to the Riederstein mountain inn at Galaun. Good hiking boots are recommended as it gets quite steep from there. It is nice to take a break here with a snack or just relax on the sun terrace (closed on Tuesdays).
The detour to the Riederstein Chapel, which can only be reached via steep steps and a Way of the Cross with 14 plaques, should be taken. From up there a marvellous view of Lake Tegernsee and the valley can be enjoyed!
The starting point is the Tegernsee Schießstätte car park. However, it is also possible to start the tour from Tegernsee railway station.
