Rad-Rundtour: „Hofheimerle“- Hofheim-Rennsteig (Haßberge)

Haßfurt to Hofheim (18 km) on the former railway line "Hofheimerle". From Goßmannsdorf there is an energetic ascent for approx. 4 km, also on the Rennsteig. The Rennsteig cycle path follows the ridge until it is all downhill via Köslau to Ebelsbach. From there it is flat in the Main valley via Zeil back to Haßfurt. Start, finish and direction can be chosen at will. However, the direction shown here is recommended, as the ascent (at Goßmannsdorf) is steeper but shorter than in the opposite direction. Route conditions: tarmac cycle path between Haßfurt and Hofheim and between Ebelsbach and Haßfurt; otherwise little-used road between Goßmannsdorf and Rennweg and in the Ebelsbachtal valley (there is also a cycle path along the road in places; Rennweg is gravelled). Refreshment stops: Haßfurt, Königsberg, Hofheim, Goßmannsdorf, Köslau, Ebelsbach, Zeil am Main. Highlights/sights: Knights' chapel in Haßfurt, old town and castle in Königsberg, old town of Hofheim with railway museum, Gleisenau Castle near Ebelsbach (can only be visited from the outside, castle park freely accessible), old town of Zeil; always beautiful views of the landscape around the Haßberge; beautiful valley of the Ebelsbach.
