This idyllic route near Nesselwang winds its way through dense forests up to the historic ruins of Nesselburg Castle. The ruins of this former 11th-century hilltop castle were for a long time an important seat of the Bishops of Augsburg. Although the walls are now cordoned off for safety reasons, the striking shield wall, the old gate and the remains of the great hall’s wall give a glimpse of its former splendour. The path crosses the clear Schlossbächel stream and offers a peaceful atmosphere in the Allgäu mountain forest.
