The route starts at the car park at the Wankbahn valley station (if travelling by bus or train, get off at "Wankbahn" or "Schützenhaus"). The route leads through forests and across idyllic Alpine pastures through the mountain ranges to the east of Garmisch. Sturdy shoes and a certain degree of surefootedness are recommended. There is a refreshment stop near the starting point of the hike.
