From the car park in Jachenau, the trail leads via the Pfund-Alm up to the Hirschhörndlkopf. After a section along a forest road, the steep, south-facing ascent takes hikers up the forest slope via several hairpin bends, with a steep descent to the side. A good basic level of fitness and surefootedness is required here. Once the route reaches the summit, the ascent will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Lake Walchensee, the Herzogstand, the Jochberg, and Lake Starnberg. On the way back, the route via the Kotalm is somewhat flatter and more leisurely along the mountain stream.
