The Hochthron via ferrata leads through the steep, 400 metre high east face of the Untersberg to the Berchtesgadener Hochthron. The partly vertical rock face juts out from the Berchtesgadener Hochthron to the Salzburger Hochthron.
The Hochthron via ferrata is a modern, difficult sport via ferrata with a homogeneous distribution of difficulty without a walking passage. Apart from a short passage, the via ferrata is secured throughout with a wire rope and stirrups. This route is only recommended for experienced climbers. The via ferrata leads through one of the most exposed wall passages in an almost straight line to the ridge near the summit.
