Schattenmühle – Wutach Gorge – Holzschlag Circuit

• Partial Closure Lotenbach Gorge: The Lotenbachklamm has been closed since the beginning of July 2026 due to a severe landslide and is expected to remain closed until the 2027 hiking season. The area is considered to be at high risk of rockfalls, which is why the associated hiking car park is also out of use. The route alternates between peaceful, open hilltop paths and narrow trails deep within the canyon. In the lower section of the trail, the rushing water cuts through steep limestone formations, offering views of cascading waterfalls and moss-covered rock faces. Wooden walkways and rock steps help you explore the lower sections of the gorge safely. A historical highlight along the way is the traditional Schattenmühle, a former mill in the heart of the valley. Sturdy footwear with a good tread is strongly recommended, as the damp paths near the river are often slippery.
