Baiersbronner Himmelsweg: 2-Lake Tour

• Partial Closure Sankenbach Waterfall: Since 18 July 2026, parts of the bridges at the Sankenbach Waterfall have been damaged due to a landslide. The path leading up from the Sankenbach Waterfall to the Wasserfallhütte is therefore impassable and closed until further notice. A diversion is signposted. The tour usually starts at the Sankenbach car park or the chairlift car park in Baiersbronn. The Sankenbach waterfalls are a special experience, where visitors can open the sluice manually to let the dammed water cascade down. In the dense fir and spruce forests, alpine newts can often be spotted in the waters and, with a bit of luck, the rare capercaillie. The cirque lakes themselves are remnants of the last ice age and are lined with mossy ferns and blueberry bushes. The Ellbachseeblick viewing platform offers a sweeping view over the dark coniferous forests far into the valley.
