Best trails near Schönberg

Medium-difficulty mountain hike, which leads along forest paths and steep trails in the lower section and along stony paths in the summit area. Unlike the neighbouring Seekarkreuz, the Schönberg is a somewhat quieter alternative. The view from Schönberg over the Isar valley to the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains is astonishingly far-reaching and invites you to linger a while.

A little fitness is required for the ascent, which is of course rewarded with magnificent views. The Schönbergalm is a great place to stop, which is open all year round. From the Hohenburg hiking car park (720m) on the trail to Lasseln (740m) past the "Mariaeck" signpost heading SE towards the Alpelwand. To the south of it, follow the Alpelgraben in an easterly direction up to the prospectively situated Alpel (1206m).
