The Schweinsberg lies in the direct shadow of its neighbours Wendelstein and Breitenstein. Nevertheless, a hike here is worthwhile, as it is much quieter than on the other surrounding peaks and the views are still outstanding. The path is also very easy up to the Kesselalm, after which it gets a little steeper, but this path is still easy to master with a normal level of fitness.

This hiking trail is very long and has a strenuous summit crossing. The route is mostly on well-trodden paths, with secured passages on the Hochsalwand and the Wendelstein summit. The view through the Jenbachtal valley makes it clear that the Wendelstein is the biggest peak here. Its rocky, striking summit towers above all the wooded heights around it and it is correspondingly popular with hikers as a tour destination, despite the cogwheel railway and cable car.
