Best trails near Frankenkammer

Scenic hike in Franconian Switzerland, Bavaria. This hiking trail leads through the “Schwarzer Brand” rock area. The route leads steeply uphill in parts. The climbs are, of course, rewarded with beautiful viewpoints. From the starting point (parking spaces and bus stop available), it goes uphill past the Francke fireplace and the Azelstein. The route continues via Neutras past some hills and other beautiful viewpoints. There are places to stop for refreshments in Neutras and Hirschbach...

A classic hidden in the forest of the Hersbrucker Alb. The tour is ideal for getting in the mood for the via ferrata season; if you don't climb the difficult passages, the via ferrata is classed as moderately difficult (C). The "Via Ferrate Bambini", a training via ferrata that is also suitable for children, has been built before the actual main via ferrata. The via ferrata is tricky in wet conditions and in winter.

Popular loop in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park. This strenuous, sometimes very steep path leads to over 30 natural caves (caves and stalactite caves). The rocks are limestone deposits from the ancient Jurassic Sea, similar to coral reefs. The path also leads past the "Petrus" rock tower. A visit to "heaven" is worthwhile here. The Hirschbach Tourist Association, 1975 of the "MSC Hirschbach", laid out the hiking trail and marked it throughout with the number 3 on a green background....

Adventurous forest and rocky trail with moderately difficult via ferrata sections: caves, chimneys, ridge climbing. All rocks and via ferrata sections can be bypassed in the forest. Full via ferrata equipment is advisable for the steep sections, which are only partially secured and dangerously slippery when wet; a safety rope is also recommended for children.

Short, very scenic circular walk along the "Alte Dorfstraße" to the cemetery. Here turn right up to the Prellstein. Past the mountain guard hut and along the foot of the Schwarzer Brand (with Höhenglücksteig), the path winds through shady mixed forest to Noristörle. Return along the same path for a few minutes, then turn left downhill to reach a high valley with beautiful views of the rocks. Passing fields and meadows, this very scenic trail ends after the Mittelbergwand in Hirschbach. ...

Heinz Walter was a volunteer with the mountain rescue service for 50 years. The trail dedicated to him starts at the Unterhirschbach hiking car park. The walk takes around 3.5 hours.

A challenging loop with wonderful views and past rock formations. Accessible by bus and train. There are refreshment stops.
