Best trails near Frauefels

Very nice excursion from Schaffhausen to the Rhine Falls. It starts at the railway station and then continues along the Rhine to the waterfalls. You can linger there for a while and then walk back along the opposite bank via FLurlingen. You always follow the water and can see some historical works along the way, such as Laufen Castle.

This segment of the Via Rhenana leads along one of the longest hiking trails in Switzerland, following the historic waterway between Untersee and Hochrhein in ten days. The fourth stage takes four hours from Schaffhausen to Rheinau with its baroque monastery church. It is a former Benedictine abbey on the Rhine island. The route is criss-cross through the forest from Neunkirch over the Häming and straight uphill. The first part is a forest path, then it goes over a game crossing up to the Häming, to the viewing and barbecue area of Guntmadingen.
