#16 of 21 nature parks

The Bavarian Rhön Nature Park is located in the districts of Bad Kissingen and Rhön-Grabfeld in the north of Bavaria. It runs directly along the border triangle with Hesse and Thuringia. In 2014, the Bavarian part of the Rhön biosphere reserve was enlarged to 130,500 hectares, roughly within the boundaries of the nature park.

The nature park delights its visitors with sweeping views over steep slopes, gentle hilltops, wild moors and extensive meadows and forests. The volcanic landscape creates a very special atmosphere. Part of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park is the Hohe Rhön nature reserve, which is home to probably the most valuable biotopes in the region.
