The start is the car park at the Thüringer Hütte (refreshments available). From there, take the trail towards Rothe Kuppe. Once you reach the Rothen Kuppe, continue in the direction of the Sennhütte, following the trail signposting Rother Kuppe - Sennhütte (black arrow). From the Rothen Kuppe, the trail first runs through the forest and later leads across open terrain on the Hochrhön to the Schwarzes Moor. Once you reach the Schwarzes Moor, follow the red arrow markings, which initially lead you along the Hochrhön road, then cross it and return to the Thüringer Hütte.
