Best child-friendly trails in Ulmen

The route leads around the Jungfern Weiher near Ulmen and the Ulmener Maar. The Jungfernsee was once used by the lords of Ulmen Castle as a fishing lake until it silted up. After the former maar was used for peat cutting for a while, it was decided to flood the area again in 1942. Today, the Jungfernweiher is a nature reserve together with the Ulmener Maar. An easy and family-friendly circular hike in the Eifel region, which leads partly along the Vulkanweg trail, past the Jungerweiher pond and along the Berenbach stream. You walk along well-maintained forest and field paths. As the route is mostly flat, you don't need to be exceptionally fit or have any hiking experience. Despite the little effort, you get great views of the Kreuzberg volcano, Kastelberg and the idyllic Jungerweiher pond.
