Romantic primeval forest circular route in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park, Thuringia.
This natural route starts at the Jüchnitz, near the country school centre. The route initially heads south in an anti-clockwise direction, following the course of the stream. The spruce forest, which has grown on one side due to earlier mineral extraction, has been reforested and beech and fir trees are slowly reappearing and can flourish without human intervention. On wide forest paths, the trail leads along boulder debris heaps and past small streams. Some of the spruce trees here are over 120 years old - a wonderful home for bats and other small animals as well as rare bird species. Two idyllic forest inns are there to stop for refreshments along the way.
The bus stop "Arlesberg, Elgersburger Straße" is located on the route, so travelling by public transport is possible.
