The route around the Schöhsee lake is ideal for easy walks, jogging, cycling or hiking. It runs along paved paths and over soft forest ground. The marvellous view over the clearest lake in Holstein Switzerland can be enjoyed from everywhere. In summer, bathing spots invite to cool off. In winter, up to 2000 tufted ducks can be observed around the 3 small, wooded islands in the lake and in summer the islands also offer nesting opportunities for herons, kingfishers and oystercatchers.
The start is at the car park at the cemetery. Plön railway station is also nearby, so traveling there by public transport is possible. There are cafés and bistros near the station and stopping off at a fisherman's snack bar on the way is also an option.
