Sächsische-Schweiz Radtour

This impressive cycle route leads through the spectacular rock world of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the heart of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The path follows a diverse mixture of level Elbe cycle paths, paved side roads, and sometimes steep, gravelled forest tracks. A central highlight is the passage along the Elbe with views of the world-famous Bastei Bridge and the massive table mountains such as Lilienstein and Königstein Fortress. In the lower-lying floodplain forests and the wildly romantic Kirnitzsch Valley, kingfishers, black storks, and trout in the clear streams can be brilliantly observed. The route requires good basic fitness due to the sometimes sharp climbs (especially when leaving the Elbe Valley), but rewards with incomparable panoramic views over the rugged sandstone massif.
