The Brocken Challenge is a popular adventure and charity run in the Harz Mountains. Due to the time of the event in February and the demanding route over 92 km on partly steep, natural paths, the ultra-marathon is only suitable for extremely experienced runners with a good deal of experience, initiative and responsibility. In 2022, the route was reversed and led in the opposite direction from Schierke to Göttingen for the first time. The route is not signposted in the Upper Harz region.
