Diese Route folgt der 9. Etappe des Rheinburgenwegs, einem Weitwanderweg, der in Bad Salzig beginnt und in Sankt Goar endet. Der Weg führt durch die dramatische Landschaft des UNESCO-Welterbes Oberes Mittelrheintal, vorbei an idyllischen Weinbergen sowie direkt an den historischen Burgruinen Sterrenberg, Liebenstein und der weitläufigen Burg Rheinfels.
Übernachtungen sind in Pensionen und Hotels in den Orten möglich; Wildcampen ist auf dieser gesamten Strecke strikt verboten. Eine spezielle Ausrüstung ist nicht erforderlich, festes Schuhwerk wird jedoch für das steile Gelände empfohlen. Trinkwasser gibt es zuverlässig in den Betrieben und Gaststätten der Dörfer; Wasser aus natürlichen Quellen muss gefiltert werden. Start- und Zielort sind bequem per Bahn und Bus erreichbar, Fahrpläne sind über https://www.bahn.de abrufbar. Der Rheinburgenweg ist ein Premiumweg, der von Rolandseck nach Bingen führt und meist in 13 Etappen gewandert wird.
