Stage 8 of the long-distance hiking trail WestfalenWanderWeg, North Rhine-Westphalia.
This is the eighth stage of the varied WestfalenWanderWeg, which runs for 216 kilometres from Hattingen through the southern Ruhr region, the Paderborn region and the foothills of the Sauerland to Altenbeken in the Teutoburg Forest/Eggegebirge nature park.
The eighth stage begins in the mountain town of Rüthen and ends in Büren. After exploring the historic town centre of Rüthen, which is well worth seeing, the route heads north-east through the Rißneital and Aschental valleys. There are buses in both Rüthen and Büren. There are places to stay overnight and stop for refreshments.
