The approximately 8 km long meander trail impressively shows hikers the development of the Sieg from a meandering river to a river course shaped by man, partly due to the construction of a railway line. Today, rare animals and plants find a protected habitat in the oxbow lakes of the Sieg, while the 84 metre wide Sieg waterfall in Schladern is an example of engineering art from 1857 and 1858. The former Sieg loops near Dattenfeld and Dreisel are also impressive witnesses to the constant changes in the course of the river.
History buffs can also look forward to a ruined castle and the Altwindeck museum village.
