This route starts in Hilberath at the "Tor zur Eifel" car park. The roads are in good condition. The only exception is the farm track from Kalenborn to Esch (to avoid the busy B257): The road is tarmac, but very bumpy. The descent to Marienthal is very nice, on a very quiet and well-paved road with a gradient of up to 12%.
