You start at the church in Dedenborn, where car parking is available. Now follow trail marker no. 16 (Eichheckrunde). A brief visit to the village church (1717) is recommended right at the start. At first, the trail goes slightly downhill in the Rur plain. Along the way, you will come across layers of rock that are unique to this area. Now the trail climbs steadily for about 3 kilometres along the Tiefenbach valley. The effort is worth it, as there are always great views. On the way, you pass the oil mill (edible oils were produced here in the 17th century). Now at the top, you should take a break before walking approx. 4 km downhill to the starting point of the hike.
