Von Giersdorf nach Asbach

A short loop along the Breitenbach and Asbach streams and along the Fulda and Geis rivers. You can also start the route from Bad Hersfeld. The route runs along the small Breitenbach stream, initially across small fields that turn into forest meadows and finally into the forest. The path climbs steadily but not too steeply. Once you reach the ridge, you leave the Hählgans farm with its idyllic location and the Stellerskuppe a few hundred metres off the path and soon cross the "Kurze Hessen" country road between Bad Hersfeld and Kirchheim (also known locally as "Lange Heide"). Then it's really only downhill through a beautiful, varied forest with quite different corners. It alternates between dense forest and clearings, between deciduous and coniferous forest. The path soon hugs the Asbach and follows the course of the stream to the village of the same name. Until then, forest meadows alternate with originally marshy sections of the stream. After passing under the mighty motorway bridge (A4), the forest opens up again and you finally reach Asbach via pastures and fields. There you meet the Fulda cycle path and follow it directly along the course of the river to Bad Hersfeld.
