The Hammelbach circuit first leads past the Protestant church in Hammelbach. Here you have a marvellous view of Reichenberg Castle and the Otzberg. You continue along an easy path to the impressive "Eselstein" rock formation and up to the Wagenberg (535 metres above sea level). A short time later, a stop at one of the highest beer gardens in the region ("Zum Schardhof") is recommended. Later, you cross the motorway in Litzelbach and follow a path to the historic sandstone quarries. Finally, you return to the starting point through the picturesque Gaßbach valley.
All in all, this route offers a great experience of nature and unique views. The hike makes average demands on technique and fitness.
