MTB loop Grasellenbach

Challenging MTB route with historical sights near Grasellenbach, Hesse. It starts at the Nibelungenhalle in Grasellenbach and from there directly into the forest and uphill towards Spessartskopf (547 m). At the Affolterbacher Höhe (505 m), you will find the "oldest road sign in Germany": chiselled in stone, it asks cyclists to put on special wooden cycling shoes to protect the sandstone pavement and to ride carefully. The route now takes you via the "Rotes Wasser" nature reserve up to the Spessartkopf. Here you will find the next sight: the legendary Siegfried Fountain. This is where the sinister Hagen is said to have slain the hero Siegfried. The route continues along gravel paths to the "Drei Eichen" forest crossing. In picturesque Güttersbach, you can stop for a bite to eat and rest for a while before setting off on the second half of the tour. Via Mösselbach, the route climbs uphill again to Dachsberg. In the last third of the route, you pass the charcoal burner's hut and the fox oak. You return to the starting point via the tranquil Striethtal valley.
