Mountain Bike Circular Route Heppenheim HP1

Popular mountain bike tour in the UNESCO Geo-Nature Park Bergstraße-Odenwald, Hesse. Far away from busy roads, this well-signposted MTB route leads through the picturesque natural landscapes of the Bergstraße and the Vorderer Odenwald. The route starts at the Kleiner Markt in Heppenheim, close to the historic old town center. It goes up to the observatory. From there, there are great views of Heppenheim and the side valleys of the Odenwald). The route continues between the Hambach Valley and the Kirschhäuser Valley, past the Helenenruhe, and through idyllic mixed forests. From the "Jägerrast" refuge, the trail climbs quite steeply - it goes up to the Krehberg, the highest point of the Vorderer Odenwald and this MTB tour. There is a fantastic panoramic view of the Rhine plain and the Melibokus from here. There are also beautiful views from the Mathildenruhe, this time of the Neunkirchner Höhe, and the spa town of Lindenfels. This is followed by a long-awaited descent that leads past Heiligenberg and Eselsberg, among others, through vineyards and past the "Winzerrast" (view of Starkenburg Castle and the Rhine plain) back to the starting point.
