Lahn Cycle Route: Marburg to Philippstein

Varied section of the Lahn Cycle Path, Hesse. In Marburg, you pass the Elisabeth Church, one of the first Gothic churches in Germany (well worth a visit). Other notable buildings include the Old University and the Palatine Castle. At Ruttershausen, the Lahn continues to grow in size. A short time later, you can see a cone-shaped mountain with Gleiberg Castle towering over the town on the hillside. In Giessen, you pass the tower of the old town church at the market and later a larger weir on the Lahn. The next highlight is Wetzlar with its cathedral square and the Kornmarkt with its old half-timbered houses.
