Kirchheim Circuit

Demanding long-distance circuit around Kirchheim. This route offers an intensive all-day hiking experience through the picturesque hilly landscape of the Knüllgebirge in Waldhessen. The route is designed for hikers in very good physical condition and requires sustained effort over many kilometres. It goes steadily uphill and downhill through dense beech forests and open meadows. The loop frequently circles the highest point of the mountain range, the Eisenberg, which offers fantastic panoramic views over the historic region sometimes referred to as Little Red Riding Hood country. Although the terrain is not technical, surefootedness is required to negotiate the steeper, rougher sections of the forest paths. Sturdy footwear is therefore essential for a safe and rewarding tour.
