Salinen-Radweg (Radfernweg)

Cross-border long-distance cycle route through the Chiemgau Alps and the Salzburger Land, Bavaria/Salzburg (Austria). Connecting old salt extraction sites, the historic Saltworks Cycle Route runs for around 130 kilometres from Rosenheim in Bavaria to Hallein in Austria. The Saltworks Cycle Route follows old trade routes and the world's first brine pipeline. Along the way, museums and disused salt mines offer the opportunity to learn more about the history of salt production and its importance for the region. Although the direction, start and length of the cycle tour can be planned according to personal taste, it is advisable to divide the route into two daily stages starting in Rosenheim. The route is signposted in both directions and there are connections to other long-distance cycle routes such as the Inn Cycle Path. The larger towns along the route can be reached by bus and train. There are overnight accommodation and refreshment stops.
