Stage 1 of the long-distance cycle route "Salinen-Radweg", Bavaria/Salzburg (Austria).
This is the first stage of the historic Saltworks Cycle Route, which runs for around 130 kilometres through the Chiemgau Alps and Salzburger Land, linking the salt and saltworks towns of Rosenheim, Traunstein and Berchtesgaden as well as the Austrian town of Hallein.
The first stage begins in Rosenheim and ends in Traunstein. Cycling in the footsteps of salt, you will pass towns of historical and scenic interest such as Bernau am Chiemsee, Grassau and Traunstein.
The start and finish points of this route can be reached by bus and train and there are places to stay overnight and stop for refreshments.
