Lovely short hike in Leuchtenberg, Bavaria.
This easy round begins and ends in Leuchtenberg at the castle ruins of Leuchtenburg Bund is one of the marked hikes of the Oberpfälzer Wald Verein with the No.1. There is a free car park below the castle.
Perfect for people with dogs and children, there is much to see, play and admire, even off the main path. From the castle, it goes downhill into the wildly romantic Lerau Valley with incredible rock formations and the rushing Leraubach. At the former quarry, it finally goes uphill to the starting point.
Overall, the trail is well maintained, signposted, and sometimes a bit rooty. There are some steep climbs and descents.
