The Regental cycle path mostly leads through the Bavarian Forest with very few gradients, before taking a short loop through the Upper Palatinate Lake District. The route follows the river in a relaxed manner, with occasional climbs where you move away from the water. The majority of the route is suitable for the whole family, but further east, the foothills of the mountains come closer and it gets quite strenuous near Roding and between Viechtach and Regen. Again and again you pass through beautiful and historic villages and have wonderful views of the river landscape.
