The hike through the Partnach Gorge is among the most beautiful in the Alps. The gorge, declared a natural monument, is the natural outflow of the Schneeferner, the remains of a glacier on the Zugspitzplatt.
The Partnach Gorge itself is about 700 meters long and, in places, more than 80 meters deep, making it an excellent attraction for the whole family. Children, in particular, will enjoy the many tunnels and the noise. The gorge is also worth a visit in winter; here, you can hike past giant icicles and through the imposing nature. In winter, however, walking back the same way at the end of the gorge is advisable, as the forest route can be slippery and sometimes dangerous. Rest stops along the way are provided, and several huts offer food and drinks, including the Hanneslabauer alpine inn.
