Obertsdorf - Grosser Wilder

This is a true alpine test, categorised as a T4 Alpine hike, requiring a high level of fitness, experience and the right equipment. The Oberstdorf Großer Wilden Circuit goes on a rugged, high alpine loop that culminates on the Großer Wilden, a peak that reaches 2,379 metres (7,805 feet) in the magnificent Allgäu Alps. The route requires absolute surefootedness and a head for heights due to continuous exposure on rocky paths and challenging ridge passages. Sections require easy climbing (class 2 and 3) and a helmet is mandatory due to the constant risk of falling rocks. Oberstdorf itself is known as the southernmost point in Germany and an important centre for winter sports and is situated in a dramatic valley. Due to the seriousness of this tour, a via ferrata set is strongly recommended for the exposed, rope-insured passages.
