Challenging hike to the Krottenkopfhütte near Farchant, Bavaria.
The Krottenkopf (2,086 m) is the highest mountain in the Bavarian Pre-Alps and offers experienced mountaineers outstanding views. Even though the path is not excessively steep, it can be quite strenuous due to the long ascent and the large difference in altitude (approx. 1,500 metres). The trail initially leads through flat meadows before the steeper ascent begins in the mountain forest. The trail climbs steadily - without levelling off - via the Weilheimer Hütte (1,955 m) to the Krottenkopf. The way back leads via the Esterbergalm and Farchant. Marvellous views of the mountain landscape make up for the long distance.
