This route is part of the historic salt trade route that leads to Austria via the Hirschbichl Pass. Formerly an important transport connection, the route is now part of the popular hiking area in the Berchtesgaden National Park. The starting point is the Bergheim Hirschbichl.
There are several alpine pastures along the route, such as the Lagert Alm or the Bindlalm. The Klausbachtal is both the valley of the alpine pastures and the valley of the eagles. One can take a break at the alpine pastures and enjoy the wonderful view. A special highlight is a barrier-free suspension bridge.
