Varied hike from Volkach-Astheim, Bavaria.
This great hike along the Volkach Main loop starts at Volkach-Astheim railway station. Initially, the route leads through quince groves a little away from the Main. Then the jungle trail begins, which leads through enchanted forest, but always offers direct access to the banks of the Main. Sometimes even with a sandy beach. Shortly before Kaltenhausen, turn left uphill towards Vogelsburg. At the museum railway stop, you have another beautiful view to the north before crossing the state road and continuing through the wine-growing area on the southern slope, where you can enjoy the view in the other direction.
This is an all-round great circular route with lots of nature, marvellous views and exciting information about quince growing near Astheim. The path is nicely shaded on the first side and a little warm at the vineyards.
