This is an extremely scenic circular hiking trail along the Burgensteig trail in the Naabtal valley. The starting point of the route is the artists' village of Kallmünz, where it is worth spending a little time. Often following the Wittelsbacher Burgensteig trail, you walk through the Naab and Vils valleys and enjoy unrivalled views. The icing on the cake of the hike, however, awaits on the last kilometre: the ruins of Kallmünz Castle, built around 900. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended, especially for the steep ascent to the castle ruins.
