Isar River to Wolfratshausen

This classic point-to-point hike leads from the Bavarian state capital Munich southward into the picturesque Alpine foothills. Following the green ribbon of the Isar River, the path runs on a diverse mixture of natural riverside trails, reinforced embankments, and shaded forest paths through the Isar floodplains. A central highlight is the wild river landscape of the "Pupplinger Au," a nature reserve of European significance, as well as the confluence of the Isar and Loisach rivers just before Wolfratshausen. The route is mostly level but requires good endurance due to the considerable distance.
