The Kandel is the most recognisable mountain in northern Breisgau. This route, characterised by tranquillity and pure nature, is perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The start is at the hiking car park in Altersbach. It goes almost exclusively through the forest. There are viewpoints that offer great views over wide areas of the Black Forest. The first half leads uphill towards the summit of the Kandel, then downhill to the starting point.
You can take the railway to Waldkirch. However, there is no bus from there directly to the starting point.
