This 158 km circular walking route begins and ends in Giengen an der Brenz and, over ten daily stages, takes in the historic trails of the transhumant shepherds in the Heidenheim region. The route winds through romantic river valleys, juniper heaths, bizarre limestone cliffs and the Steinheim meteorite crater. A white shepherd’s symbol on a blue background, along with orange signposts, ensure excellent wayfinding throughout. The walk is best undertaken in a clockwise direction, but can be flexibly adapted thanks to the Brenztalbahn railway and good bus connections.
