From the Bänklesweg in Zang, the trail leads through peaceful woods to the Herwartstein ruins above Königsbronn. The route continues past the idyllic Lake Itzelberg, through the Siebter Fuß protected forest and across gentle plateaus to the heathland at Hahnenschnabel above Heidenheim.
