This walking route takes in the many military monuments from the battles of 1870 and 1944-1945 on the heights of Spicheren, with a few sections on the Felsenweg rock path from the Sonnenberg to Saarbrücken. From Spicheren, hikers head for the 1939-1945 German military cemetery, then on to the Franco-German 1870 cemetery in Giffertwald and the monument to Lieutenant Gangloff. This charming route takes you along the route of the GR®5G Nord. It starts north of Cocheren in the Moselle département. It then passes through the villages of Oeting and Spicheren and the Forbach national forest. It takes you all the way to the Franco-German border, just outside Saarbrucken.
