The route follows the SGV's X4 cave trail for almost the entire distance (very well marked in both directions). It is possible to break off the tour at kilometre 12 and take bus 593 to Wetter (runs every hour). Accessible by bus and train. There are refreshment stops, but only towards the end of the hike.
