The Elbschebach Witten Bommerholz nature reserve, which covers around 32 hectares, is located in the Elbsche valley. Wengern lies to the north-east of the valley and Bommerholz to the south-west. The nature reserve encompasses an approximately 1.7 km long section of the Elbschebach valley as well as parts of the neighbouring slopes. The Elbschebach forms the natural border between the towns of Witten and Wetter. An excellent place for relaxing hikes and walks.

Popular cycle route in North Rhine-Westphalia. The "From Ruhr to Ruhr" cycle path runs mainly on a former railway line and connects the towns of Hattingen, Sprockhövel, Gevelsberg, Wetter and Witten. This route is scenic and varied. A lot of greenery and nature can be seen, and historic bridges, viaducts and the"Nachtigall" colliery are being passed. Leisurely cycle tour near Witten Not the most demanding route, but partly on the beautiful "Rheinischer Esel" route. On the long loop, we went into a wooded area where there were lorries and other interesting things from the mining industry. It's worth stopping now and again to enjoy the view.

A very beautiful tour with many ascents and descents, great forest passages and marvellous views. The route follows the SGV's X4 cave trail for almost the entire distance (very well marked in both directions). It is possible to break off the tour at kilometre 12 and take bus 593 to Wetter (runs every hour). Accessible by bus and train. There are refreshment stops, but only towards the end of the hike.

Popular circular hiking trail near Wengern, North Rhine-Westphalia. The Esborn Three Villages Trail starts and ends at the hiking car park at the Böllberg sports ground. The circular trail leads past Höchstreichberg and Voßhöfen towards Bommerholz, through which you walk back to the car park on beautiful, shady paths.
